Epictetus On Creation

Epictetus On Creation

Epictetus On Creation

“Who thought of all these things – colours, vision, objects, and light – together and created them so they nicely fit into each other, like a sword fits into a scabbard? No one?”

When you consider how many things are created to be perfectly compatible with one another, it makes sense that it can’t be random. Rather it is a creation of an artisan. When we see a sword and a scabbard together, we assume that someone made them. ”

“Why don’t we assume a Creator when we see vision and light together?” – Epictetus

Seneca on Rooting Out Suffering

Seneca-Suffering

Seneca-Suffering

“Two elements must therefore be rooted out once for all — (1) The fear of future suffering, and (2) the recollection of past suffering; Since the latter no longer concerns me, and the former concerns me not yet. When set in the very midst of troubles one should say: Perchance some day the memory of this sorrow Will even bring delight.” – Seneca

There is only path to happiness…

Epictetus-Happiness

Epictetus-Happiness

“There is only one path to happiness, and that is in giving up all outside of your sphere of choice, regarding nothing else as your possession.”

“Transfer judgments to things that lie within the sphere of choice, and I guarantee that you’ll preserve your peace of mind, regardless of what your circumstances may be.” – Epictetus
